Wrestlemania in Dallas update

Brett Daniels, spokesman for the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, killed any hopes of Dallas fans of having WrestleMania in the city for the next two years. Speaking to the Dallas Observer, Daniels said that due to other sports scheduled – NCAA Regional in 2013 and Final Four in 2014 – the city won’t be able to host the show at the stadium. “We’ve talked with them and gave it a shot but couldn’t make the schedule work,” Daniels said. Dallas was rumored to be hosting an upcoming WrestleMania after the success of WrestleMania 25 in Houston, Texas. (thanks to Colin Vassallo)

Misc WWE News

- If you haven’t heard yet, Google and Twitter are in a dispute over Google’s new Search Plus feature that searches social networks and has placed Twitter near the bottom of the page in favor of Google+ content. Twitter reps have used search results for “@WWE” to show their concern for Google’s new feature. - Jim Ross said yesterday that it is “absolutely” realistic to think that WrestleMania 28 will be the last time we see The Rock in the ring as an active performer.

News on Chris Jericho's story line

- As noted before, WWE officials have had talks about Chris Jericho winning the Royal Rumble this year. There was an idea suggested this past weekend where Jericho won’t speak on RAW until after the Rumble. This would see Jericho give his big victory speech, speak for the first time since returning and likely call out WWE Champion CM Punk for WrestleMania 28.

Hogan Says He’s Shaving His Head and Mustache For Film Role

Speaking to TMZ, Hulk Hogan says he plans to shave off his trademark facial hair and skullet for a film role. “I’m getting ready to go on some auditions. I’m getting ready to shave my head and my mustache. So that should be scary,” he told a TMZ cameraman who was waiting outside his Florida residence Wednesday. The wrestling legend also said he feels better after undergoing dental surgery Tuesday night, which resulted in doctors removing a metal tack from his mouth and cleaning up the surrounding infection. In October he went in for dental surgery to get implants. The doctor performed a sinus graft, placing a donor bone in the mouth to support the implant. The TMZ cameraman asked Hogan where he got the donor bone. “I think I got it from some dead… you know one of my dead ex-wrestling… aww I shouldn’t say it,” Hogan jokes.

Dixie Carter Discusses Sting Retiring Soon and Hulk Hogan’s TNA Status

- TNA President Dixie Carter recently spoke with The Daily Star to promote TNA’s upcoming UK tour. Here are some highlights: Sting retiring and his final appearance in the UK: “In his mind, I think this is his last year as far as the wrestling is concerned. When we booked this, that’s the way he was talking about it – ‘I haven’t played there in a decade, and before I retire I need to come back there and wrestle.’ Based on where he’s at and what he’s saying, barring something extraordinary this is the last time.” “And for me it’s great to be able to bring him back there. He’s spent such a big part of his career helping to build our company, I’m very proud we can bring him over. It feels very final. It’s going to be an emotional night.” Hulk Hogan’s status: “The truth is I haven’t heard from Hulk in a while. He knows what’s going on – he’s a businessman, and he knows that it’s an important date for us. He will be eyeing that very carefully. He’s been gone from the scene. My goal would be to have him there. You’ll be the first to know if he is.”

Update on the location for Wrestlemania 29

As it was reported yesterday, Triple H visited the New York Giants’ practice yesterday as they were preparing for their playoff game against the Green Bay Packers this Sunday. From a very reliable source, word coming out of the Giants organization yesterday was that Triple H was in town with WWE Officials to finalize a deal to bring WrestleMania 29 (or possibly 30) to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. MetLife Stadium has already been the location announced to host Super Bowl XLVIII in February 2014. The stadium has seating for 82,566 fans, including 10,005 club seats and approximately 218 luxury suites. This of course, would not include floor seating. This would mark the third WrestleMania that New Jersey has hosted, with WrestleMania 4 & 5 taking place at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, NJ. Hogan’s dental mishap

Hogan walked back into a hospital this week to undergo another surgery after a CAT scan on his mouth revealed that one of the doctors who performed surgery on him left a metal tack in his mouth. Speaking to celebrity website TMZ, the former WWE champion said that back in October of last year he went in for a dental surgery to get implants and when the dentist removed the mold from his mouth, he ripped out 50 stitches from a surgery he did before. He said he’s been suffering from infectionsever since and all the antibiotics didn’t help at all. “They had to drill a f**king hole in my face,” Hogan said. Hogan is already back at home recovering.

Early word on WWE's plans for WrestleMania 29

WWE announcing Edge for this year’s Hall of Fame in Miami would indicate that Toronto will not host WrestleMania 29 next year. Toronto had been discussed but news came out today that Dallas, Texas and Cowboys Stadium is being considered for next year. The idea would be to use Steve Austin, Brock Lesnar and perhaps The Undertaker’s retirement as the big outside draws. Toronto was expected to see Trish Stratus and Edge go into the Hall next year if it hosted WrestleMania.
